Another Blessing

Another Blessing

As this particular day comes to close I have to count my blessings, c
ount some things I'm forever grateful for.

1. My Dear Husband

He loves and cherishes our daughters more and more with every day. He honors his priesthood and is caring and kind to others almost to a fault! He sees the needs of others before he sees his own. And he gave our daughter Morgan a beautiful blessing today. (That is right, I concede, we'll just call her Morgan and be done with it.)

2. My Girls

They light up my life. Elise's smile (which she actually does at times, see here is proof!) can completely make my day. Kenna's antics keep me laughing and cleaning. And Morgan is constantly by my side, I'm not sure what I'd do without her here.

3. Cool Shoes

Yes, I shop online. Most recent purchase I am most proud of are these shoes. Payless has an online exclusives line... need I say more?

4. Talents
My older sister and my mom sewed Elise's blessing dress, my mom sewed McKenna's, but Mike's mom, Jan, sewed Morgan's. They are beautiful. I love them all. This is a talent I'm working on, but I'm not brave enough to do a blessing dress yet. Thanks Jan, there were so many compliments on the dress!!!

And yes, I think she looks just about as angelic as they come.
But I'm her mom, I'm supposed to think that way.

Proof

Proof

You've heard the sayings "proof is in the pudding" or "the burden of proof is in the truth", right? Well here is my PROOF of several different things. First of all, I'm posting again which is proof that I really want to have a blog and a diary of sorts of what goes on at my house. Which is also proof that I'm living. I am actually living and breathing which sometimes seems like a miracle! Having 2 under 2 isn't all that hard per se, but I will be among the last to tell you it is easy.

This is proof that my house does get cleaned, and in particular vacuumed.

This is proof that Kenna has had some fun in her life, and that she is passing quickly into that stage of life where having boogs on your face is just a phase or a right of passage.

Below is proof that we have fun as a family and with friends actually at OUR house. See, we have friends. They like us, they really really like us! Granted it was for chocolate fondue...

Here is more proof that Ashley and Shane need a baby girl... like yesterday! She is so darling with my girls! What an awesome friend!!

Here is proof that we do get out of the house, the Mike could use a tan, and that we can let loose a little bit in public!! I was nursing the baby under an umbrella and towel in the shade.

More proof that we have friends... but in particular this friend is Andrea. We named our first-born after her. This is proof that she does exist, and comes to visit me rather than the other way around. She lives far away... my college roomie that I still miss when I do my hair, or say my prayers, decorate for Christmas or try to read the bible! Thanks for the 2nd Annual Fall Conference visit! We had so much fun with you!!

More on Morgan

A pat from the Big Sister.

Our first visitors (outside of direct blood-family) were Teresa and Jesee... We had LOTS of fun and they brought me flowers and CHOCOLATE, and smiles. Thanks for coming girls! And of course, Heather came up too. That was fun!! She got to see the Wight's in action.

Miss Morgan Danielle.

The proud Great-Sister....

McKenna dancing to the tunes Dad brought. She's so stinkin cute!

My mom holding her 7th grandchild. She looks happy about it don't ya think?

First hello from mom after being all cleaned up.

Mike held his breath for this pic I think. What will the one year old do? She hugged her tight and patted her gently on the head. WHEW!

Very happy sisters. Elise calls herself a "Great-sister, because Kenna is the Big sister now!"

Random Catch-Up Pics

Here are some random pics from what we've been doing. Enjoy!

Elise went to Vegas to visit my sister. We picked her up with balloons at the airport. She flew all by herself... She did VERY well!!

Meet Sage. He is Ruby's pal. I would take both of these dogs in a heartbeat. They live at the LaSalle's where Elise takes riding lessons at. These two dogs are crazy and wonderful and they love chasing birds.

Look closely. That is Skye (Elise rode him last summer) doing his morning yoga in the sunshine. He's attempting Downward Dog I think.

This is a blanket that McKenna's favorite babysitter made for our newest arrival (scheduled for arrival this Saturday!)

McKenna playing with Elise's boots... can you say cute, but EW!!

Gotcha!! Water fight at Grandma & Grandpa Wight's

Grandma Weatherston and Kenna at riding lessons.

Elise doing my Denise Austin pilates video.

Last of all, pics of pregnant, yes very pregnant me.
Mike is my photographer, but not my hairdresser if any of you saw that on fb you know what I'm saying here!!

In my mother-in-law's garden. Look at that view, of the flowers of course!

See how big our baby is?

Note To Self On Crib Sets

Note to Self:

Vicki, Next time you get a hankerin for purchasing an all new baby crib bedding set... remember these things:

1) The blankets usually aren't very great quality: they wash apart or are not realistic for using with babies...

2) Bed skirts hide things under the bed... this is both good AND bad.... they hide precious pacifiers in the middle of the night as well as that stock of diapers you've got no room for elsewhere.

3) Changing bedsheets is difficult to near impossible with bumper pads on. What are those for anyway?!

4) Though the sets are cute, you seem to have chosen one that doesn't match ANY sheets except the ones that came with it.... How hard can it really be to find that lovely sea foam green color? pshaw!

5) Last but not least... your baby doesn't care. Really he/she is going to toss it all on the floor anyway! Paci, stuffy, blankie, deco pillow and all.

Sleep tight :)

Missing Family

So, my big sis has been here for a few weeks. She moved her little family into my mom's house for a few weeks while she and her husband house hunted in L.A. Since before I got married (10 years ago!) she's lived in Texas and Maryland. Now she's headed to California. For YEARS I've been here with our lil sis but two years ago, she got to move to Nevada to help her hubby fulfill his life-long dream of med school... So I'm here alone with Mom and lil bro. Now don't get me wrong on this, I love them, and being here with them. I love semi-quiet Sunday dinners and mom takes TERRIFIC care of me when I need ANYTHING! But I got to see 'the other side' these past two weeks. I loved having her here. I loved having her boys here. I love watching Hurricane James (this is MY nickname for him) create all kinds of havoc on my mom's formerly quiet home. Their dog is amazing and got along SO well with my mom's THREE (yes three) boxers. I enjoyed watching my lil bro tease her boys with Mike. They had a great time together. I loved watching Kenna play with/next to Cob. They are a few months apart in age and it is so fun to watch them sort of interact, the way only babies can. It was just so nice to have family around. Sure I live in a sort of Wight Family compound, but they aren't really here much. I don't get drop in visits from my sister-in-law, or brother-in-law and their kids... which sometimes I'm VERY grateful for! We all congregate every few weeks next door at mom and dads, but it just isn't the same.

Now I have to give credit to my own little family. I love to have them around... Mike, Elise, Kenna... Mike is home and awake for what 3 or 4 hours a day? I enjoy what time I do spend with him. I love watching him play with Kenna and Leese. They ADORE him as only daughters can. I cook (okay, I'm using that term very loosely!) and watch them in the living room. We eat, sometimes we get to play together before we all head to bed. Weekends are busy, though I don't really recall what it is we really 'do'... Sundays are VERY busy ALWAYS... whoever thought that would actually turn out to be a day of rest was joking... seriously! So I do have my own little nest to visit with and love and care for, but I miss my sisters. I miss my family. I'm sure this longing will pass soon enough.

Here's to you Tara and Joyce. I hope that one day you move back 'home'. I miss you terribly! We could have so much fun together. See you again soon!!

How Do I Tell Her?

(Elise on Lucky) (Petting Lucky) (Elise at age 3 on her cow!)

How do I tell her? It is going to feel worse than pulling out a sliver in her foot; or really close to that feeling of panic and fear of learning her TWO best friends will be moving this summer and she'll have to start over in the best friends department; or that maybe, just maybe we won't be here in Eden forEVER.... It really is eating me up inside, I have no clue how to prepare her for the next blow and I know it is coming and I can't stop it. I feel helpless and scared and hurt FOR her. But Aunt Sharon has to sell her horses. It has played out like a daytime drama here at our house, but Lucky and Crystal are no longer 'welcome' on the property and will be up for sale in the coming weeks. Elise has LOVED not just horses, but these two horses in particular for her entire life. I know as a mother, as a person that she will get over it eventually.... but I know her well enough to know that this is going to be very hard for her. Likely the most challenging loss she's experienced so far in her life. We haven't told her yet because she's struggling still with the news of her two best friends moving out of state at the end of the school year. It has effected her grades, her attitude, seemingly her very core. I kind of feel like I'm standing behind her with a frying pan and I have to hit her with it... I have no option, but I can't do it... I can't move forward, I can't run away, I can't warn her again (we have warned her that this could happen, but the little darling rode her bike to Aunt Sharon's and offered her her ENTIRE piggy bank to buy them but we have no way of keeping them!) I don't like this feeling!! And I don't like the situation surrounding it, not at all.

I know she'll live through it; I'll live through it. We have so much to be grateful for. So many wonderful beautiful things around us. And she's still got Sky and Alli and riding lessons this summer...... but it doesn't take the sting away. It doesn't make it easy for me to watch and hope she comes running to my arms to cry, because she very likely won't. I can see her running to her room in tears and blaming me and Mike for years for not buying her horses a place to stay where they can be ridden and cared for and loved and cherished by none other than her.

But alas it must be. We can't. We tried. I tried. She tried.
